Amos McTetris Redux by Bosshamster Amos McTetris Redux by Bosshamster
All right so ages ago I drew Amos McTetris, the gritty film noir reporter who just happened to be the L-shaped block from Tetris (I'm pretty I was originally inspired by Seventh Sanctum's Character Changer).

Then I came across him again yesterday (thanks to *MyNameIsMad), and decided to redraw him for kicks (again thanks to *MyNameIsMad), and here he is, ready to kick ass and take pictures.

Question, though: is he better? Old Amos had a charm - a certain je ne sais quoi, if you want to be French about it - that I think may be missing here. Should I stick with the original design, or this one, or a weird-ass amalgam of both?

I MUST KNOW.

I am waiting on that picture of Alec O'Frogger, the usually drunk Irish guy/detective whose bottle of whisky features the Konami logo.

:D

The dreaded bodyguard of Mao Tse Pong - Ming Soukoban - capable of *shock horror* moving boxes up, down, left & right.

The Italian tenor who's playing at the Konami Opera House - Signor Giuseppe Contra.

The ancient but genius scientist who is pronounced dead at the scene, mysteriously having died of proton exposure - Doctor Hans Gradius.

The plucky young sidekick, but who alas requires an inhaler because his over-exaggerated breathing left him with Asthma at an early age - Phil Kirby.

The untraceable informant to the detective business whose way of getting things across is leaving impossible-to-decipher cryptic clues - Mr. Mysterium.

Ok, I'm done.

These are amazing. If I draw any of them (which, hell, I probably will; they're awesome), I'm giving you full credit and then some.

Plus the naive and reckless young anarchist, a danger to himself as well as those around him - Fritz Bomberman.

And Guybrush Threepwood, by popular demand.

Wow! Credit! I always wanted some of that =D

Also Guybrush. What ho. I can't wait to see this. As long as you draw him like he was originally supposed to look and not the new 'Telltale Games' incarnation. He looks too professionally pirate in the new ones.

If you still want an opinion, I'd say the old version is a definite 1920's prohibition type gangster while the newer has a more comicky (if that's a word), Watchmen type look about it. I don't know, really. I'd say take on the Sin City look - go for black & white, or sepia, if it fits, but make sure his face stays that shade of yellow-orange. Or you could make his tie bright red.

Thankee sir! My plan was exactly that - most things in sepia/greyscale (especially outdoors), with the occasional flash of colour.

Now all that remains is for you to do a collaborative piece containing Amos McTetris, Cherry Pacmanson and Amos' colleagues, Alec O'Frogger and Bill Galaganton, fighting the inscrutable communist, Mao Tse PONG.

And if you could do all that in Battlezone, that'd be cool.

I wasn't sure whether to use Galaxian or Galaga. Even then it sounds a little forced. But that's only because I couldn't think of a joke using Space Invaders.

I'm thinking that too, probably. Which bits should I keep, though, and which bits should I change?

Well the other one had a really nice noir feel to it, if you could try incorporating that into this one, which feels more cartoony, I think you'd have a winner.

KKKKICKAWESOME

Now all I need are some supporting characters.

I wonder what would be a good offbeat video game... thing... to make into a mysterious and drop-dead-gorgeous femme fatale...
